YouTube permits the owner of the original videos that they can choose an option that makes their video copyright free and anyone can take it and use it as per their wish. This is called creative commons. YouTube allows their users to mark their videos with a Creative Commons (CC BY) license and hence allowing others to use it legally. By marking your original video with a Creative Commons license, you are permitting the entire YouTube community to reuse and edit that video. You can read more about it here: http://www.youtube.com/t/creative_commons/
Let say if you are searching for any keyword : Lizard in youtube, it will show you all the videos with that keyword, however, you can just put a comma after it and put creative commons then it will search only for only those videos related to lizard keyword where users have given permission to reuse it e.g.lizard, creative commons
You can also search with lizard and then in choose Creative Commons in Filter criteria.
You can also use Creative Commons videos that you can find in the YouTube Editor to create your own work, but do not just copy them and throw ads on them. Edit and mix them with your content and then publish it.
What’s eligible for a Creative Commons license
- Your originally created contents or videos.
- Other people videos marked with Creative Commons (CC BY) license.
- Videos found in the public domain
Can I use others videos other than Creative Commons?
Technically, yes till the video will not be found But, I will suggest you keep away from this as if you are using others videos without proper permission, you are risking of losing all your Youtube earnings but also Youtube can terminate your account for violation of copyrights.
If you don’t want any such problem, then make sure you will get proper rights to publish the video under your accounts. This is essentially what most of the MCN are doing. I understand the tight margin, but you will work consistently with proper way, you will definitely get success and become a Youtube star.
